Myanmar signs AFoCO Agreement2017-08-05

H.E. U Ohn Winn, Union Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of Myanmar signed the Agreement on the Establishment of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization on 31 July 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea in Seoul. Up to date, 8 countries have signed the Agreement.

The construction of the Regional Education and Training Center under AFoCo is expected to be completed in late 2017 in Hmawbi, Myanmar. Union Minister reiterated that Myanmar will continue to support and actively involve in AFoCO activities. After the signing of the Agreement, Union Minister visited Korea National Arboretum.

So far, the Republic of Korea, Viet Nam, and Timor-Leste have deposited their instrument of ratification. The AFoCO will continue on the ongoing activities and also further expand the regional scope as well as strengthen its activities upon official inauguration of AFoCO.
